Mission & Values

SkillsBridge Foundation exists to enhance dignified employment and economic independence for persons with disabilities through inclusive, market-driven skills training and placement. We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to participate fully in the economy—not as beneficiaries of charity, but as capable contributors.

Our values guide everything we do: capability over charity, accessibility from the start, market alignment, and co-creation with persons with disabilities.

The Problem

Over 1 billion people globally live with disabilities. In low- and middle-income countries, up to 80% of persons with disabilities are unemployed or underemployed. Ghana is home to over 2 million persons with disabilities, many of whom face systemic exclusion from education and employment.

Key Barriers

  • Inaccessible TVET and training infrastructure
  • Limited access to assistive technologies
  • Weak school-to-work and training-to-employment pipelines
  • Employer stigma and lack of inclusive hiring practices

Despite existing efforts by organisations such as GIZ, Mastercard Foundation, Sightsavers, and the Ghana Business and Disability Network, most programmes remain fragmented. There is a clear gap for integrated, free, and market-aligned skills training models intentionally designed for persons with disabilities and linked directly to employment or entrepreneurship outcomes.

Our Approach

SkillsBridge Foundation addresses this gap by combining accessible training delivery, assistive technology support, and employer engagement into a single, scalable model. We focus on capability and economic participation—not welfare or charity.

Accessibility is built in from the start. Training is driven by labour market demand, not assumptions. Persons with disabilities are co-creators, not passive beneficiaries. We are not giving fish—we are building systems that allow people to fish, sustainably, independently, and with pride.

Where We Work

We currently operate in Ghana, where our programmes target persons with disabilities across regions. Our vision is to expand our model to other countries in West Africa and beyond, once we have demonstrated impact and sustainability.
